New Surfing Club opens at Panama beach

The new Surfing Club established at Panama beach by the Navy was declared open by Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Gamage on 25th October 2021.

The Navy went onto establish this Surfing Club, aiming to promote surfing, which is already a popular surface water sport in Panama, as a sport in the command as well as the Navy. The building of the Surfing Club was put up by SLNS Mahanaga utilizing available resources in the command and making use of Navy’s skilled manpower and industrial expertise. The facility will be of benefit to naval personnel and to those who engage in this sport in the time to come.

The opening was attended by Deputy Area Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Commodore Asanga Ranasuriya, Heads of Departments in the Command, Commanding Officer SLNS Mahanaga and a limited group of naval personnel of the Southeastern Naval Command.
