Boossa Intermediate Care Centre receives medical supplies worth over Rs. 9 million

The Citizens Development Business Finance PLC provided essential medical equipment and supplies worth Rs. 9 million for the use of Navy managed Intermediate Care Centre for COVID-19 located in Boossa. The symbolic handover of items to Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne took place at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium in the Navy Headquarters today (05th November 2021).

This Intermediate Care Centre was established by the Navy at SLNS Nipuna, Boossa on 04th May 2021, in support of the Government's programme to expand facilities required for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. The Intermediate Care Centre features a High Dependency Units (HDU) with 16 beds as well as room for 200 COVID-19 patients at one go. Since its establishment, a number of organizations and institutes have contributed to this timely initiative with essential supplies, in support of the Navy’s social responsibility efforts to treat COVID-19 infectees.

Among the provided items were; 50 hospital type beds, 10 ICU type beds, 10 gas system extensions and 05 patient monitors and other supplies. Accordingly, the Managing Director Citizens Development Business Finance PLC, Mr. Mahesh Nanayakkara handed over the items to Commander of the Navy in a brief ceremony held at the Navy Headquarters today. Moreover, Citizens Development Business Finance PLC has also sponsored for the construction of complete Intensive Care Unit being put up at the Intermediate Care Centre, utilizing navy’s manpower.

The event was organized adhering to COVID-19 protocols in effect to prevent possibilities of the transmission of the pandemic. Principal Advisor on prevention of spreading COVID – 19 in SLN, Rear Admiral GSR Jayawardena, Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Prasanna Hewage, Director General Services, Rear Admiral Senaka Senevirathne, Naval Assistant to Commander of the Navy, Rear Admiral Sujeewa Senaviratne, Acting Director General Health Services, Commodore PJB Marambe and limited individuals from the Citizens Development Business Finance PLC and Navy Headquarters were present on this occasion.
