Newly appointed High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka meets Commander of the Navy

The newly appointed High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Major General (Retd) Umar Farooq Burki met with Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters today (10th February 2022).

This also turned out to be the first official meeting between Major General (Retd) Umar Farooq Burki and Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, after the former assumed his office as the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka on 02nd February. Meanwhile, Commander of the Navy expressed his best wishes to the Pakistan envoy, for successful performance of his entrusted duties of the new appointment.

The ensuing discussion between them mainly focused on several matters of bilateral importance as well as few matters pertinent to Commander of the Navy’s forthcoming official visit to Pakistan. The cordial discussion culminated with an exchange of mementoes as a gesture of goodwill.

The Defence Adviser at the Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka, Colonel Muhammad Safdar Khan was also present on this occasion.
