Rear Admiral Senaka Senevirathna retires from naval service

Sri Lanka Navy today (04th May 2022) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Senaka Senevirathna who retired from his distinguished naval service that spanned over 34 years.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne along with the Board of Management extended best wishes to the retiring senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Senevirathna was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. As the customary event drew to a close, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, before he was sent off in a motorcade amidst the cheers of naval personnel.

Rear Admiral Senaka Senevirathna joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 17th intake in 1987 and has held Command appointments of a number of ships and establishments. Among some of the key appointments he held during 34 years of naval service; Deputy Director Naval Policy and Plan, Director Naval Administration, Deputy Area Commander Northern Naval Area and Port Facility Security Officer – Kankasanthurai, Deputy Area Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Deputy Area Commander Western Naval Area and Port Facility Security Officer – Colombo, Director General Services and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force stood prominent.
