Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara assumes duties as Commander Western Naval Area

Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara assumed duties as Commander Western Naval Area at the Command Headquarters today (27th June 2022).

He held office as Director General Training at Navy Headquarters prior being appointed as Commander Western Naval Area. The incoming Area Commander was received to the Western Naval Command, in compliance with naval traditions. Thereupon, his predecessor and incumbent Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Upul De Silva handed over the duties of the appointment to Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara.

Marking his departure from the Western Naval Command, the outgoing Area Commander was also accorded a Guard of Honour in precision with naval customs, after the officers and sailors extended best wishes to him in appreciation of the service he rendered.
