Navy assists conduct of COVID-19 vaccination drive in Eastern Province

Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to the health sector for the successful conduct of a COVID-19 vaccination drive, carried out focusing the school children in Trincomalee of the Eastern Province. The Navy lent their helping hand for this timely effort, as part of its community service and social responsibility initiatives.

The programme was conducted going by the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and under the supervision of Commander Eastern Naval Area. The Public Health Inspectors’ Office of Trincomalee and the medical staff of the Eastern Naval Command carried out this inoculation drive for school children on 27th and 28th June 2022. Accordingly, a total of 252 school children, including 186 students at the Hindu College and 66 students at Rajakeeya Vidyaloka National School, Trincomalee were vaccinated against COVID-19.

Apart from this initiative, the medical staff of the Eastern Naval Command rendered assistance to vaccinate 774 school children in Trincomalee as part of the COVID-19 vaccination drive on 08th, 09th, 10th and 15th June as well.

Meanwhile, the Navy is determined to support this nature of community social responsibility programmes for the benefit of the public.
