Bomb Disposal Qualifying Course successfully concludes in Maho

Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva today (22nd August 2022) presided over the insignia pinning and certificate awarding ceremony of the Bomb Disposal Qualifying Course conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy’s Bomb Disposal Training School in Maho.

The event saw 24 naval personnel were pinned with the Bomb Disposal Insignia and awarded with certificates for the successful completion of the Bomb Disposal Qualifying Course 01/2022, held from 20th January to 22nd August 2022. After taking in to account the overall performances of course participants, Lieutenant MMVM Bandara was adjudged the Best Officer of the course. In addition, Leading Infantryman BAMS Kumara was adjudged the Best Sailor of the course and received the award for being selected as the ‘Best in Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Commandant Naval Infantry, Rear Admiral Jalaj Ponnamperuma, Deputy Area Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Commodore Rajapriya Serasinghe, Acting Director Naval Training, Captain Buddhika Rupasinghe, Senior Staff Officer (Bomb Disposal and Administration) Commander Sagara Chandrasoma and a group of naval personnel from the Navy Headquarters and Northwestern Naval Command were present on the occasion.
