Navy passes festive message through Christmas Carols

Navy Christmas Carols 2022 on the theme " May your days be merry and bright and may all your Christmases be white" organized by the Navy Christian Council in collaboration with Navy Seva Vanitha Unit and Navy Band was held at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium in Naval Headquarters on 23rd December 2022.

Each December the Navy Carols are sung to ring in the Christmas season, an annual tradition that has become one of the most anticipated events of the year. At the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the event was graced by former Commander of the Navy, Deshamanya Admiral (Rtd) DB Goonesekara, as the Chief Guset.

Upon his arrival, the Chief Guest was warmly welcomed by the Commander of the Navy and the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit. Soon after that, the stage was well set for Christmas Carols to get underway.

Following the directives of the Commander of the Navy, this special programme has been organised in view of the forthcoming Christmas. The evening was made more colourful by the renditions of Christmas classics performed by naval personnel, their family members and Navy Band and Dancing Troupe.

Former Navy Commanders, retired senior naval officers, Commander Western Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, Executive Committee Member of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Director Generals, Director General Sri Lanka Coast Guard, the President Navy Christian council Commodore Prashantha Antony and flag rank officers, naval personnel and their family members were also present on this occasion.

Meanwhile, the Navy Band and the Cultural Troupe have been the cynosure of all eyes at the Christmas Carol Concert held at the Presidential Secretariat in Galle Face in the evening of 21st December 2022 and the Christmas Carol programme hosted by the Colombo Port City in partnership with the Armed Forces on the night of 22nd December. Personnel from the Navy Band sang Christmas Carols on 02 beautifully illuminated Inshore Patrol Craft moored off the Marina Promenade of Port City.

As the festive season is just around the corner, a special Christmas programme was held at the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee on 20th December. As part of this programme carol singing programmes were held at the main entrance, Dockyard premises and wardroom. In addition, colourful decor and fairy lights filled the Naval Dockyard with a festive vibe.
