Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara takes over command of Eastern Naval Area

Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara assumed office as Commander Eastern Naval Area at the Command Headquarters in Trincomalee today (02nd January 2023).

Prior to taking over duties of the new appointment, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara was at the Western Naval Command, discharging duties as Commander Western Naval Area as well as Commandant Volunteer Naval Force. The incoming Commander was warmly received at the Eastern Naval Command in compliance with naval traditions. Meanwhile, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne who previously held the office, relinquished his duties upon handing over them to Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara.

Officers and sailors of the Eastern Naval Command bade farewell to the outgoing Area Commander who was sent off in precision with naval traditions. Meanwhile, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne will assume duties as Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy.

In addition to discharging duties as Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara will continue to serve as Commandant Volunteer Naval Force.
