Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris assumes command of Northwestern Naval Command
Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris assumed office as Commander Northwestern Naval Area at the Command Headquarters today (05th January 2023).
Before taking over duties of the new appointment, Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris was at the Southern Naval Command as its Deputy Area Commander. Upon his arrival at the Northwestern Naval Command, the incoming Commander was received in compliance with naval traditions. Subsequently, his predecessor Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva handed over duties and responsibilities of the command to Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris.
Meanwhile, the Northwestern Naval Command bade farewell to the outgoing Area Commander in precision with naval traditions. Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva is expected to assume duties as Commander Western Naval area in due course.
