Navy – built auditorium building of Roman Catholic College in Mandaitivu declared open

The new auditorium building of the Roman Catholic College in Mandaitivu, Jaffna was declared open for the use of school children by the Bishop of Jaffna, Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam on 19th January 2023.

As part of the Naval Social Responsibility initiatives, Sri Lanka Navy undertook the construction of this auditorium building, as it has been a long-felt need for the school. Commenced on 18th October 2022, the construction work was carried out with industrial expertise and manpower made possible by the Command Civil Engineering Department and funds made available by St. Anthony’s Church, Mandaitivu.

Having completed the construction of the facility within a record time of 03 months, it was bestowed upon the children of the school on 19th January 2023.

The Chief Prelate of the Catholic Church in Mandaitivu, Naval Officer in Charge (Islands) Commodore Sisira Dissanayake, Commanding Officer SLNS Welusumana, Principal, staff and the children of the school, naval personnel from the Northern Naval Command and a group of parents were also present on this occasion.
