Five (05) Service Entry candidates commissioned at Naval and Maritime Academy

In a momentous occasion, the Sri Lanka Navy commissioned five (05) Service Entry candidates into the naval service. The ceremony was held at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) Trincomalee today (11th March 2023). At the invitation of the Commandant NMA, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando the ceremony was graced by Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, as the Chief Guest.

These newly-commissioned Service Entry candidates belong to the 1/2022 Service Entry Intake of the Sri Lanka Navy. The Chief Guest presented awards to the Service Entry candidates who excelled in their training. Accordingly, the awards for the Best Service Entry Candidate and the Best Marksman were grabbed by MTS Perera. Meanwhile, the award presented for securing the Highest Aggregate in Overall Subject was won by LPS Rangana.

Addressing the new group of officers, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara congratulated them on their achievement and emphasized the importance of serving the Navy with the utmost dedication and commitment.

The entertaining items presented by the Navy Band and Cultural Troupe at the end of the dignified event made the occasion more colourful. Director General Budget and Finance, Rear Admiral Vijitha Marapana, senior officers from the Navy Headquarters and Eastern Naval Command and parents of the Service Entry candidates were present on this occasion.
