Command Naval Hospital (South) conducts clinic for glaucoma screening

On the sidelines of World Glaucoma Day (12th March), the Command Naval Hospital (South) organised a glaucoma clinic at the Naval Hospital on 17th March 2023. The noble cause held for the benefit of naval personnel, their family members and civil staff employees, was well supported by the College of Ophthalmologists, Teaching Hospital Karapitiya.

At the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Navy threw its weight behind this worthy effort which was brought to fruition with the support of the consultants and staff of the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya. The proceedings of the event were supervised by the Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Saman Perera. A total of 218 naval personnel, their family members and civil staff employees were screened for glaucoma and educated during this campaign.

Deputy Area Commander Southern Naval Area, Commodore Jayantha Bandara, Command Medical Officer (South), Surgeon Commander SPS Jayasumana, officers and sailors from the Southern Naval Command, members of naval families and civil staff employees were also present on this occasion.
