SLCOMM and SLMA conducts joint regional meeting in Trincomalee

The Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine (SLCOMM) and the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) held a successful joint regional meeting at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium of the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee on 18th May 2023.

The initiative, launched at the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, focused on providing an overview of environmental health, one health, and planetary health. Representing SLCOMM its President Surgeon Commodore Nandani Wijedoru welcomed the distinguished guests and the President of SLMA, Dr Vinya Ariyarathna introduced the objectives of the regional meetings.

The meeting was enriched by the captivating lectures delivered by Dr Sajith Edirisinghe, Prof. Indika Karunathilaka as well as Admiral Piyal De Silva (Retd) and the President's Advisor on The Environment, Dr Ananda Mallawatantri, virtually.

Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, officers from the Tri-Services and Police, officials from state and private institutes in Trincomalee and a group of students from the Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya, Trincomalee were present on this occasion.
