The operation of the Cafeteria of multi-functional hall in Welisara begins

The operation of the Cafeteria of multi-functional hall, that is being constructed at the Naval Complex Welisara was commenced on 14th July 2023. At the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the occasion was graced by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne. This facility has been proposed to be constructed to offer a wide array of welfare provisions to naval personnel and with a view to hold various functions organised by the Sri Lanka Navy.

Accordingly, the commencement of construction of this multi-functional hall, that will feature all new amenities, began on 25th April 2021. When completed, this facility will be of great benefit to Sri Lanka Navy for and all naval personnel to fulfil all official, formal and private functions in a place within a naval premises.

The project will be managed as a business venture of Malima Hospitality Services (MHS). Meanwhile, the construction of the multi-functional hall, undertaken by the Civil Engineering Department of the Navy with its able manpower and industrial expertise, has almost come to the final stage. As a significant milestone event of the project, the operation of the Cafeteria was commenced on 14th July 2023.

Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, Director General Services, Rear Admiral Priyal Vithanage, a group of senior and junior officers from the Navy Headquarters and the Western Naval Command and members of the steering and project committees were also present on this occasion.
