Commander of the Navy attends 16th International Research Conference of KDU

The 16th International Research Conference (IRC) of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) commenced at the KDU Auditorium on 07th September 2023 with the gracious presence of the Chief of Staff to the President and National Security Advisor, Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka. The event which was graced by the Defence Secretary, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), as the Guest of Honour, was also attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

The 16th International Research Conference scheduled on 07th and 08th September, is themed around “Achieving Resilience through Digitalization, Sustainability and Sectorial Transformation". The Conference will encompass a diverse array of sessions and presentations across various fields, such as Defence and Strategic Studies, Engineering, Medicine, Computing, Law, Allied Sciences, Technology, Criminal Justice, Built Environment and Spatial Sciences, Basic and Applied Sciences, Management, as well as Social Sciences and Humanities.

On 07th September, the Commander of the Navy moderated the Defence and Strategic Studies session centered on the topic of ‘National Security Resilience’ and engaged in a thought-provoking conversation.

Diplomatic corps, the Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, General Shantha Kottegoda (Retd), Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, academic staff of KDU and a galaxy of intellectuals were also present on this occasion.
