The Sri Lanka Navy celebrated its 73rd Anniversary, giving pride and place to social responsibility initiatives and religious programmes. In an extension of these efforts, the Navy organized blood donation drives from 01st to 28th December 2023, spanning all Naval Commands.

Accordingly, these programmes were held in the Eastern, Northern, North Central, Northwestern, Western, Southern and Southeastern Naval Commands, following the directives and guidance of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera. The programmes focused on replenishment of much needed blood stocks at the Blood Transfusion Centres in Trincomalee General Hospital, Vavuniya General Hospital, Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, Mullaitivu General Hospital, Jaffna Teaching Hospital, Thelippale Base Hospital, Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, National Blood Transfusion Service Colombo, Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and Pottuvil Primary Hospital.

A large group of naval personnel attached to the Naval Commands voluntarily participated in these programmes, by donating blood for a noble cause.
