Rear Admiral Sisira Dissanayake retires from naval service

After dedicating 33 years of committed service, Rear Admiral Sisira Dissanayake retired from the naval service today (05th May 2024), relinquishing his duties.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera along with the Navy's Board of Management, conveyed heartfelt congratulations to the retiring naval officer on his 55th birthday today. Following naval traditions, Rear Admiral Dissanayake was honored with a Guard of Honor. His fellow naval officers then bade him a formal farewell, expressing their appreciation for his dedicated service. Subsequently, he was sent off in a motorcade through the portals of Navy Headquarters, amidst cheers.

Rear Admiral Sisira Dissanayake joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 03rd intake of Naval Infantry in 1990. Throughout his distinguished career, the senior officer has occupied various commanding roles at naval establishments. Among some of the other key appointments he held; Command Land Operations Officer (North Central), Security Coordinator (Port of Colombo), Command Land Operations Officer (West), Deputy Director Naval Infantry, Naval Officer in Charge (Trincomalee North), Naval Officer in Charge (Islands), Director Navy Infantry and Commandant Naval Infantry stood prominent.
