Certificate awarding of Maritime Boarding Exercise with Radiological & Nuclear Incident Scenario Course held in Trincomalee
The Sri Lanka Navy, under the sponsorship of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), hosted a course on Maritime Boarding Exercise with Radiological & Nuclear Incident Scenarios at the Special Boat Squadron Headquarters and Sobar Island Resort, Trincomalee from 08th to 19th July 2024. The certificate awarding of the course was held under the patronage of the Chief of the Defence Forces, Seychelles, Brigadier Michael Rosette on 19th July.
The specialized training was enriched by the expertise of the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board, which provided invaluable instructional support on Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) handling. The programme was attended by military personnel from Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Mauritius, Maldives, Tanzania, Sri Lanka and Seychelles. Alongside the general visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) training, the course placed a significant emphasis on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) safety.
The Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, the Commanding Officer Special Boat Squadron, officers from the Eastern Naval Command, and officials from the UNODC were also present on this occasion.
