Navy commences 2025 with pledge for ‘Clean Sri Lanka’

The Sri Lanka Navy commenced the first working day of New Year today (01st January 2025), pledging its support for the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative, in parallel with the national ceremony held in this regard. Naval personnel from Navy Headquarters, all naval establishments and ships commenced the day by attending the solemn occasion where the national flag was hosted and national anthem was sung.

Following the inaugural address by the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Honourable Anura Kumara Dissanayake, at the Presidential Secretariat, naval personnel and civil staff pledged their support for the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ programme, coinciding with the live telecast of the programme.

The national event in this regard, held under the patronage of the Honourable President, was also attended by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda. Meanwhile, Area Commanders, senior officers from Navy Board of Management, flag-ranking officers, senior and junior officers, sailors and civil staff employees across from the Navy Headquarters and Naval Commands were also present at respective events, to take the oath pledging their support for this timely initiative.
