Sri Lanka Navy boosts sports shooting with refurbished rifles

The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) played a key role in reviving sports shooting by refurbishing 34 decommissioned 84S semi-automatic rifles for the National Rifle Association of Sri Lanka (NRASL). The refurbished rifles were distributed among registered shooting clubs at the Panaluwa Firing Range on 08 Feb 25.

These rifles, originally set for disposal, had been recovered by NRASL and were repaired and modified by the Navy to meet safety standards. Distribution of rifles among registered shooting clubs was held under the auspices of Director General Budget and Finance, Rear Admiral Manjula Dissanayake who also serves as the President of the NRASL.

This effort marks a pivotal step in advancing Sri Lanka’s shooting sports, with the Sri Lanka Navy playing a crucial role.
