Commander of the Navy visits North Central Naval Command

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda embarked on a formal visit to the North Central Naval Command on 08 Mar 25. Addressing sailor under trainees he underscored the critical need for sailors to undergo comprehensive training, equipping them with knowledge, physical stamina, and mental resilience to effectively carry out their roles in the Navy. Additionally, he emphasized the responsibility of the instructors in ensuring these standards are met.

Upon his arrival, the Commander of the Navy was received by the Commandant SLNS Shiksha. Then he was ushered to the General Mess, where the Navy Chief addressed recruits of 257th and 260th intakes. In his address to sailors, the Commander of the Navy urged trainees to focus on acquiring both theoretical and practical knowledge essential for their future roles, while also maintaining the physical and mental fitness required for military life. Additionally, the Navy Chief highlighted that upon successfully completing their training, sailors should be fully prepared to serve with newfound skills, knowledge, and the right attitude. He also underscored the unique role the Navy plays in ensuring national security and development, calling on trainees to commit themselves to serving the motherland with pride.

Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Banagoda emphasized the critical role of instructors in enhancing the knowledge and skills necessary for effectively training recruits. Moreover, he underlined the responsibility of the training staff to cultivate essential qualities such as character, discipline, conduct, and leadership among the trainees to meet the desired standards. The Commander of the Navy also stressed the importance of delivering comprehensive training, including language proficiency and IT skills, to ensure well-rounded development. Additionally, he highlighted the need to prioritize the welfare of under trainees, reaffirming the Navy’s commitment to the well-being of its personnel.
