Southern Naval Command marks New Year with grand celebrations

The Southern Naval Command held its Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival (Bakmaha Ulela) in grand style at SLNS Nipuna on 18 Apr 25. The Commander Southern Naval Area attended as the Chief Guest, adding prestige to the event.

Featuring a mix of customary rituals, competitive games, and cultural performances, the celebration provided a delightful experience for officers, sailors and their loved ones.

Additionally, an evening musical show was held following the New Year festival, which was vibrant with singing and dance performances.
