Navy extends experience knowledge to enhance community readiness

With a view to empowering community, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted a specialized three-day diving training programme from 26 to 28 Apr 25 in Ampara. The initiative, set in motion alongside the ongoing "Clean Sri Lanka" campaign, aimed to enhance civilian readiness during flood emergencies.

At the request of the District Secretary of Ampara, the Diving Unit of the Southeastern Naval Command spearheaded the programme and the training saw the participation of 23 civilians from Samanthurei, Kartivu and Saindamardu areas, equipping them with essential skills for disaster response.

The training programme honed the local community with essential skills for emergency response, including flood rescue operations, water-based rescues and underwater search and recovery.
