Navy takes lead in rolling out training for safety of fishing community

In a bid to enhance safety and emergency preparedness among fishing communities, the Sri Lanka Navy in partnership with the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, conducted training programmes at Cod Bay and Valaichchenai Fisheries Harbours on 21 and 24 May 25.

As part of the Naval Social Responsibility initiatives, the Basic Life Support (BLS) & Field Triage programme was hosted by the Eastern Naval Command Hospital. The training aimed to equip fishermen with basic first aid & emergency management, prevention of non-communicable and pre-non-communicable diseases, drug prevention education, mental health awareness and community health education, ensuring they can respond effectively to emergencies at sea.
