“Logistics Conference 2025” wraps up on successful note in Trincomalee

The 7th edition of “Logistics Conference”, organized by the Long Logistics Management Course (LLMC) No. 9, took place on 31 May 25 at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee. The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Leveraging Adaptive Logistics in Building Resilient Supply Chains in a Volatile Global Economy’. The event was graced by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, as the Chief Guest, upon the invitation of the Commandant NMA, Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph.

Professor Ravi Dissanayake, a distinguished expert in Marketing from the University of Kelaniya, delivered the keynote address at the conference. The event gathered leading academic professionals to explore strategies on the theme of this year’s conference and the event included the presentation of seven research papers, and panel discussions. The sessions were organized around three key sub-themes; Digital Transformation in Supply Chains: Leveraging Technology for Agility and Efficiency, Risk Management and Crisis Response: Building Resilience to Global and Local Market Fluctuations and Sustainable Logistics Practices: Incorporating Environmental Responsibility into Supply Chains. The sessions buzzed with energy as it brought together professionals from universities and training institutes, Director Generals from Navy Headquarters, retired logistics branch senior officers and officers from Sister Services.

At the Logistics Conference 2025, the Navy Commander emphasized that adaptive logistics is key to building resilient supply chains in a volatile global economy. He stated that logistics forms the backbone of naval operations and must evolve through innovation, digitalization, environmental sustainability and enhanced cooperation between state and private sector.

The Logistics Conference was organised by the student officers of LLMC No. 9 under the able guidance of Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy and with the support of the NMA Directing Staff. The Vice Chancellor of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara (Retd), Director General Logistics, Rear Admiral Ruwan Kalubowila, Director General Budget and Finance, Rear Admiral Manjula Dissanayake, Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Ravindra Tissera, Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage, Director General Training Rear Admiral Dammika Wijewardana, retired senior officers, flag rank officers, senior officers from the Logistics branch, officers from Sister Services and Police, officers from foreign navies and a group of officer under-trainees of NMA attended the Logistics Conference 2025.
