Commander of the Navy embarks on visit to Naval Dockyard Trincomalee
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda embarked on a formal visit to the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee on 31 May 25. During the visit, he evaluated critical operational and training activities, reviewed welfare measures and addressed naval personnel on the vital role of the Sri Lanka Navy in national security.
Accompanied by Director General Operations and Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, the Navy Chief arrived at the Command Auditorium where he addressed officers of the 4th Fast Attack Flotilla and ships, attached to the Eastern Naval Command.
During his address, the Navy Commander emphasized the critical need for ships and craft to maintain operational readiness, to defend maritime borders and upholding the nation’s security interests.
Additionally, he addressed operational challenges related to ships and craft, as well as the welfare of naval personnel, during discussions with senior officers. Emphasizing the need for a secure maritime environment, he stressed the Navy’s vital role in countering illicit activities at sea. To achieve this, he called for enhanced professionalism and stronger coordination with other stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies.
Vice Admiral Banagoda also took time off to visit SLNS Sagara and No 03 - Slipway in the Eastern Naval Command where he reviewed operations and provided guidance on task execution.
