Commander of the Navy congratulates Rear Admiral Princely Liyanage (Retd) on double Guinness World Record glory

Rear Admiral Princely Liyanage (Retd) achieved a remarkable feat on 09 Mar 25 by qualifying to establish 02 Guinness World Records for continuous running on a manual treadmill over a 24-hour period. The Guinness World Records Committee has officially recognized this extraordinary achievement, presenting him with the relevant certificates and medals. Marking this proud milestone, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda congratulated Rear Admiral Liyanage (Retd) during a special meeting held at the Navy Headquarters on 12 Jun 25.

His remarkable achievements included multiple records: running an impressive 94.30 km in 12 hours and by running 174.08 kilometers in 24 hours on a manual treadmill. His extraordinary accomplishments have brought international recognition to Sri Lanka and showcased sheer resilience and determination.

The Commander of the Navy admired Rear Admiral Princely Liyanage (Retd) for earning two Guinness World Records as a retired senior officer, bringing immense honour to the Sri Lanka Navy and the nation. He also commended the senior officer for setting an inspiring example not just for Sri Lankan youth but for the entire world, demonstrating that with determination, effort, dedication, and unshakable courage, any challenge can be overcome.
