Naval personnel equipped with vital knowledge on internal affairs operations
An informative session on the roles and responsibilities of Internal Affairs Units (IAUs) was conducted successfully by officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on 11 Jun 25, at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium. The event was designed to enhance the knowledge of SLN personnel serving in recently established IAUs.
Prior to the awareness event, the CIABOC delegation led by its Commissioner III, Mr. Chethiya Goonesekera, P.C. paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda. Speaking at the awareness programme, the Navy Commander underscored the importance of fostering a culture of integrity, while emphasizing the values of transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct within any organization.
The programme featured three comprehensive lecture sessions, offering detailed analysis of The Anti-Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023, the roles and duties of Internal Audit Units, and the recently implemented Assets and Liabilities Declaration Law, implementation of the Conflict of Interest Policy and social consequences of bribery and corruptions.
A group of senior officers as well as 72 officers and 27 sailors from IAUs established across Naval Commands and Navy Headquarters were present on this occasion.
