Local fishermen equipped with essential life-saving techniques and health awareness
Demonstrating its ongoing dedication to public welfare and community development, the Sri Lanka Navy joined forces with the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to provide essential life-saving training for local fishermen. The training session was held at the Valaichchenai Fishery Harbour on 20 Jun 25, equipping participants with vital skills for safer fishing activities.
The Naval Command Hospital - East spearheaded the programme in which local fishermen were equipped with essential first aid and life-saving techniques vital for emergencies at sea. Key areas covered also included Basic Life Support (BLS), field triage, mental health awareness, addiction prevention and Pre-Non Communicable Disease screening.
