Navy rolls out dengue prevention programmes at schools in North Central and Eastern Provinces

In a proactive move to combat the spread of dengue fever, the Sri Lanka Navy rolled out extensive dengue prevention programmes in 05 schools in the North Central Province and 06 schools in the Eastern Province on 09 Jul 25.

The Navy is a key contributor of the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative, supporting the government's broader "Beautiful Island, Smiling People" vision. Through active participation in this nationwide campaign, the Navy often contributes to foster dynamic, creative, and disciplined learning communities that prioritize student talent development within clean, supportive, and secure educational environments.

As part of these community outreach initiatives, St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School in Talaimannar, Government Tamil School in Vellakulam, Naruvilikulam School in Vankalai, St. Joseph's Maha Vidyalaya in Mannar, Isipathana Mahavidyalaya in Poonewa, and Rahula Primary School in Medawachchiya, belonging to the North Central Province as well as Panama Maha Vidyalaya, Government Tamil Mixed School in Panama, Siri Indrasiri Pirivena, Methodist Tamil Maha Vidyalaya in Pottuvil, Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya in Kalmunai and MHM Ashraff College in Sainthamaruthu belonging to the Eastern Province were converted into healthier space for education, reinforcing the need for collective action to combat vector-borne diseases.

The North Central and Eastern Naval Commands actively supported these efforts, working closely with school teachers, students, and their parents.
