Commander of the Navy infuses command priorities strengthening operational excellence during the visit
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, embarked on an official visit to the Northwestern Naval Command on 12 and 13 Jul 25, reviewing operational readiness, administrative affairs as well as implementation of welfare measures at the naval establishments of SLNS Thambapanni, Vijaya and Naval Detachments belonging to those establishments.
The Commander of the Navy, along with the Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Varuna Ferdinandusz first visited Naval Detachment Sinnapadu, before calling at SLNS Thambapanni to review its operational and administrative activities as well as welfare matters. Meanwhile, at SLNS Thambapanni, the Navy Chief addressed officers and sailors, emphasizing the command intent. He further emphasized the need for naval personnel to demonstrate unwavering dedication in fulfilling the Navy’s roles and missions at all times.
Thereupon, the Navy Commander inspected the Naval Detachments of Mohoththuwaram, Kandakkuliya and Uchchamuni under SLNS Vijaya. The visit also served as an opportunity to assess security measures of these naval establishments in the Northwestern Naval Command and to provide guidance on future strategic priorities.
Heads of Departments from the Northwestern Naval Command, Commanding Officers of SLNS Thambapanni and SLNS Vijaya as well as a group of sailors were present on this occasion.
