Navy-built RO plant opened in Gokarella for community use

A new Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, set up by the Sri Lanka Navy, was officially opened on 16 Jul 25 at the Sri Wimalarama Purana Viharaya in Hiddana, Gokarella. The project was made possible through the industrial expertise of the Sri Lanka Navy, with funding support from Wing Commander Pulasthi Weerasinghe (Retd) and his family members.

The facility, which would provide clean drinking water to the local community, marked the 1,114th such plant established by the Navy across the country. This initiative reflects the Navy's dedication to community welfare beyond its maritime duties, reinforcing its efforts to provide sustainable water solutions to communities deprived of such access.
