Waves of readiness: Sea phase of TRINEX – 25 begins
The Sri Lanka Navy launched the ‘Trincomalee Naval Exercise - 2025’ (TRINEX-25) in an opening ceremony at the Naval Dockyard Trincomalee, setting the stage for intense maritime exercises. The action shifted to the eastern waters the next day (23 Jul), with elite units, including the naval ships, 4th Fast Attack Flotilla, Special Boat Squadron, Navy Marines and Sri Lanka Air Force, joining forces for maritime drills.
On 23 Jul the naval exercise featured Miscellaneous Exercises (MISCEX), Surface Target Firing Exercises (SUFTX), Screening Exercises (SCREENEX), Gunnery Exercises (GUNNEX) and Vertical Replenishment (VERTREP). Furthermore, participants in today's exercise (24 Jul) will concentrate on Search and Rescue (SAREX), Casualty Evacuation (CASEVAC), and anchoring drills.
TRINEX-25 has also been augmented with the participation of lady officers and women sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy, allowing them to gain essential operational experience, ensuring greater manpower readiness and effectiveness in similar scenarios.
