Water woes of communities eased with Navy’s RO plant in Olukaranda, Anuradhapura
In a significant step towards addressing safe drinking water scarcity of communities, a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, set up by the Sri Lanka Navy, was declared open in the village of Olukaranda, Kekirawa, Anuradhapura on 13 Aug 25.
The initiative, made possible through financial provisions from the Presidential Secretariat and the industrial expertise of the Navy, underscores the Naval Social Responsibility commitment of the Sri Lanka Navy.
With a daily purification capacity of approximately 10,000 liters the RO plant is set to provide safe drinking water to residents in and around the village. Moreover, this magnanimous project of the Navy reached its 1120th milestone with the opening of the new facility.
Aligned with the government's vision of ' A vigorous life - Healthy people’, the Navy is advancing its NSR project to supply safe drinking water to communities deprived of such access.
