Duo of Indian Naval Ships arrive in Colombo to participate in bilateral naval exercise SLINEX – 25
The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Jyoti and INS Rana arrived at the Port of Colombo today (14 Aug 25) to take part in the 12th edition of the Sri Lanka-India Naval Exercise (SLINEX – 25). The Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the visiting vessels in keeping with maritime traditions.
The fleet tanker INS Jyoti, commanded by Captain Chetan R Upadhyay, spans 180.16m in length with a crew of 200. Meanwhile, the destroyer INS Rana, under the leadership of Captain KP Sreesan, measures 147m and is manned by 300 naval personnel.
Upon arrival, the Commanding Officer of INS Jyoti called on Commander Western Naval Area at the Command Headquarters. The five-day SLINEX–25 naval exercise, commencing today (14 Aug), will be held at the Port of Colombo and in adjacent waters. Following the exercise, the duo of ships are scheduled to depart the island.
Beyond the drills, the visiting naval personnel will engage in a series of camaraderie-building activities organized by the Sri Lanka Navy. They will also explore key cultural and tourist sites across the island, further fostering bilateral bonds between the two nations.
