Inspector General of Police calls on Commander of the Navy

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Priyantha Weerasuriya called on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda at the Navy Headquarters today (09 Sep 25).

The visiting IGP was warmly received by the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jagath Kumara at the portals of the Navy Headquarters. Subsequently, he was accorded a Guard of Honour in compliance with naval traditions, before the Commander of the Navy introduced the members of the Navy’s Board of Management to IGP.

The occasion turned out to be the maiden visit of Mr Priyantha Weerasuriya to the Navy Headquarters in Colombo, after his ascension to the helm in the Sri Lanka Police, effective from 14 Aug 25. During ensuing discussions, Vice Admiral Banagoda extended sincere congratulations to the IGP and wished him every success in the execution of vital national duties, reaffirming the Navy's commitment to continued collaboration.

This official visit of the IGP symbolized the enduring strengths and cooperation between the military and law-enforcement bodies. The meeting concluded with a customary exchange of mementoes, representing the cooperative spirit.
