Rear Admiral Ruwan Kalubowila appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy
Rear Admiral Ruwan Kalubowila was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy effective from 28 Aug 25. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda officially handed over the letter of appointment to Rear Admiral Kalubowila at the Navy Headquarters on 19 Sep and extended best wishes to him in the new role.
Rear Admiral Ruwan Kalubowila, a distinguished old boy of the D.S.Senanayake College, Colombo 07, embarked on his naval career in 1991 as an Officer Cadet in the Logistics branch. Following his initial naval training at the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee, he was commissioned as a Sub Lieutenant in 1993. In 1995, he completed the logistics Sub Lieutenant Technical Course at the Naval and Maritime Academy. Pursuing his Long Logistics and Management Course at INS Hamla, India in 2007, he was conferred with a Master’s in Logistics Management from Goa University, India.
In recognition of his distinguished service, Rear Admiral Ruwan Kalubowila has been awarded the Uththama Seva Padakkama (USP) for his unblemished record of service and many other campaign and service medals for the 34 years of dedicated service. His illustrious career has been enriched with vast experience in the Sri Lanka Navy in various capacities and the officer has held a number of important logistics appointments including Commodore Superintendent Logistics (North), Director Naval Logistics, Naval Secretary and Secretary to the Commander of the Navy and Director General Logistics.
In addition to his recent appointment as Deputy Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Ruwan Kalubowila has been serving as Director General Logistics, a responsibility he continues to oversee.
