Deliberations of Galle Dialogue Session 3 shift to Maritime Economy under Changing Dynamics
The third session of the 12th Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference was conducted under the theme “Maritime Economy under Changing Dynamics.” The session was steered by Dr. Ganeshan Wignaraja, Visiting Senior Fellow at ODI Global, London, and former Executive Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Think Tank, Sri Lanka.
Extensive discussions were held on the role of Maritime Security Forces in safeguarding economic activities across the Indian Ocean, while also addressing the opportunities, challenges, and risks linked to the growth of the blue economy in the region
During the third session, Colonel Amanda Johnston Defence Advisor to the Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka elaborated on Role of a Maritime Force in a Prospering Blue Economy. Major General Rob de Wit, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Royal Netherlands Navy presented a paper on Maritime Economy under Changing Dynamics: Resilience of the Society and Role of Maritime Forces. Adding further insights, Commodore Ben Aldous Royal Navy, Deputy Commander Combined Maritime Forces addressed Opportunities, Challenges, and Maritime Risk Management in the Blue Economy.
