Foreign delegates commend Sri Lanka Navy’s role in fostering regional maritime cooperation at 12th Galle Dialogue

On the sidelines of the 12th Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, engaged in bilateral discussions with key maritime stakeholders, including visiting Navy Chiefs. The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on strategically important matters pertaining to maritime security in the Indian Ocean region. During these interactions, foreign delegates particularly commended the Sri Lanka Navy’s steadfast commitment to strengthening regional maritime cooperation.

On the opening day of the conference (24 September), Vice Admiral Banagoda held bilateral talks with delegates from Thailand, the Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies, the Netherlands, Russia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Canada, Australia, and Singapore.

On the second day (25 September), the Navy Commander again engaged with representatives from Mongolia, the United States, Mauritius, Maldives, ReCAAP, Japan, the U.S. Department of Defense, France, Indonesia, Myanmar, Germany, and other international organizations.

The Galle Dialogue will continue to serve as a vital platform for enhancing regional and global maritime cooperation, strengthening partnerships, and supporting the sustainable development of the blue economy for the benefit of the nation.
