Navy enters into agreement to facilitate Onboard Security Teams
The Sri Lanka Navy entered into an agreement with a local representative of two (02) foreign Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSCs), at the Navy Headquarters in Colombo on 03 Oct 25. The agreement enables the storage and transportation of firearms, ammunition and related equipment under Navy supervision and protection, with logistical support provided by the respective local representatives.
Recognizing the imperative of safeguarding national interests, His Excellency the President, by Gazette Extraordinary No. 2449/27 of 13 Aug 25, vested authority in the Sri Lanka Navy to independently carry out maritime security operations. The matter has also been duly communicated to Parliament. Meanwhile, all revenue generated through this project will be completely credited to the Government Consolidated Fund. Furthermore, the Sri Lanka Navy remains dedicated to exercising its authority and fulfilling its mandate to carry out maritime security operation, under the supervision of the Ministry of Defence.
