Navy-led forum charts course for stronger joint effort in maritime and coastal issues
A special meeting aimed at exploring collaborative solutions to existing challenges concerning maritime and coastal issues in the Eastern Province was held on 02 Oct 25 at the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee. The meeting was convened under the patronage of the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Ravindra Tissera with the participation of heads of government agencies operating in the province.
The forum facilitated extensive deliberations on a range of key issues, including the joint initiatives to safeguard archaeological sites in coastal regions, prevent coastal environmental degradation, promote sustainable tourism, curb illegal fishing activities in the Eastern seas, and protect the marine ecosystem.
A wide representation of officials from government agencies, including the District Secretary of Trincomalee was present on this occasion.
