Northwestern Naval Command takes lead in strengthening inter-agency partnership for coastal security and fisheries governance
A meeting to address challenges related to maritime security and fisheries management along the Northwestern coastal belt was convened at the Northwestern Naval Command on 02 Oct 25, under the patronage of the Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Varuna Ferdinandusz.
Enhancing inter-agency cooperation, addressing unregulated fishing in restricted areas, countering smuggling networks, improving infrastructure and road access to support security operations, strengthening information-sharing mechanisms to report suspicious activities and commitment to collaborative maritime governance were among the key areas of focus during the discussions.
The event was also attended by senior officers from the Northwestern Naval Command along with key representatives from government agencies, law enforcement bodies, environmental authorities, and fishing communities.
