Navy upskills personnel in CBRN response procedures

In alignment with the strategic objectives outlined in NAVSTRAT-2030 and beyond, the Directorate of Engineering of the Navy organized a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Awareness Programme at the Naval Institute of Technology (NIT) on 22 and 23 Oct 25.

The programme was conducted by a panel of professional subject matter experts from the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Regulatory Council (SLAERC), the Sri Lanka Customs, National Authority for the Implementation of Chemical Weapon Convention and the Disaster Preparedness & Response Division of Ministry of Health and Mass Media.

A group of 44 naval personnel representing all Naval Commands took part in the training, gaining comprehensive insight into CBRN response procedures, safety measures, and inter-agency coordination frameworks.

The programme aimed to strengthen the professional competence and preparedness of naval personnel engaged in CBRN-related responsibilities across Naval Commands.
