Rear Admiral Pradeep Karunathilake honoured in send-off salute

The Sri Lanka Navy on 29 Nov 25 bade farewell to Rear Admiral Pradeep Karunathilake who relinquished his duties to which he was committed over the past 35 years in the Sri Lanka Navy.

The Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando, along with the Board of Management of the Sri Lanka Navy, extended best wishes to the retiring senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Karunathilake was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. As the customary event drew to a close, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, before he was sent off in a motorcade amidst the cheers of naval personnel.

Rear Admiral Pradeep Karunathilake joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 20th intake in 1990. Throughout his distinguished naval career, the senior officer had the privilege of holding prestigious positions, including Captain Electrical Department (North), Commodore Electrical Department (West), Deputy Director Naval Electrical Engineering (Electronics & Telecommunication) & Deputy Director Maritime Surveillance, Commodore Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department (East), Director Naval Electronic & Telecommunication Engineering, Head of Cyber Security Cell, Director Naval Electrical Utility and Biomedical Engineering, Director Naval Electrical Fleet and Weapon Engineering and Director General Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
