Navy provides essential assistance for flood-affected communities
The Sri Lanka Navy has mobilized dedicated, island-wide efforts as of 02 Dec 25 to deliver vital humanitarian aid and disaster relief to communities devastated by adverse weather. The Navy is working on full swing, focused on restoring critical infrastructure, including water supply, power systems, and roadways, while providing essential medical support, dry rations, and clean drinking water.
Specifically, the Navy carried out several critical tasks, clearing debris from the bridge in Lewella across Mahaweli River, removing road-blocking earth slips in Moragolla, Kandy and cleaning public spaces, homes, and wells in Gampaha. They also supported power restoration in Naththandiya and provided diving teams for maintenance at the Ambatale Water Treatment Plant. A major supply effort delivered dry rations and drinking water to multiple areas, including Kaduwela, Wellampitiya, Biyagama, Kotmale, Katana, Kotikawatta, Mulleriyawa, and Malwana.
