Navy marks 75 years of service with lifesaving blood donation drives
The Sri Lanka Navy conducted blood donation campaigns at the Navy General Hospital, Colombo, and the Naval Hospital of the North Central Naval Command on 02 Dec 25. The initiatives were organized as part of the Navy’s 75th anniversary commemorations, which encompass a series of programmes that highlight the organisation’s commitment to social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and ethical values.
Recognizing the increased national demand for blood in the aftermath of the recent weather-related disaster, the Navy placed special emphasis on contributing to the country’s urgent requirement. The campaigns were held in collaboration with the Colombo North Teaching Hospital, Ragama, the Teaching Hospital, Anuradhapura, and the District Hospital, Vavuniya.
A large number of naval personnel from the Western and North Central Naval Commands volunteered to donate blood, demonstrating the Navy’s enduring humanitarian spirit and its dedication to supporting the nation in times of need.
