As part of its island-wide disaster recovery programme, the Sri Lanka Navy on 05 Dec 25 successfully repaired and restored a damaged water supply system in the Madampe area, returning access to clean water for approximately 2,000 families.
The restoration work was carried out following a request from the National Water Supply & Drainage Board’s Puttalam office. The system, which distributes water from the Nelumpokuna Water Treatment Plant in Madampe to the Walahapitiya area, had been compromised by recent flooding and adverse weather.
Naval personnel repaired the damaged sections and laid approximately 60 meters of new piping, ensuring the supply was fully returned to its original operational condition.
