Navy marks 75 years of service with impactful community initiatives
In commemoration of its 75th anniversary, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted a series of community-focused programmes, underscoring its commitment to social responsibility, environmental stewardship and ethical values. The initiatives included a community health clinic in Nilaveli, Trincomalee on 07 Dec 25 and a blood donation campaign at the Naval Hospital in SLNS Nipuna on 10 December.
Accordingly, medical staff from the Eastern Naval Command, in partnership with the Trincomalee Lions Club, organized the community health clinic in the Nilaveli area. The event provided vital medical services to local residents, including screenings for non-communicable diseases, child health assessments, and treatment.
Meanwhile, the blood donation programme was held at the Naval Hospital premises of SLNS Nipuna. This campaign, coordinated with the Blood Bank of the National Hospital in Galle, aimed to bolster essential blood reserves. A large number of naval personnel from the Southern Naval Command volunteered to donate blood, demonstrating the Navy’s enduring humanitarian spirit.
