Navy commences 2026 with oath of allegiance to public service

A solemn ceremony to mark the commencement of duties for the year 2026 was held this morning (01 January) at Navy Headquarters, under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.

The Sri Lanka Navy is undertaking its designated duty while contributing its expertise to national development initiatives of social, environmental and ethical importance. Accordingly, all naval personnel and civil staff took the oath of allegiance to public service, reaffirming their commitment to discharge the duties entrusted to each of them efficiently and effectively, with determination, utmost dedication, honesty and loyalty to the public, during the year 2026.

The occasion was also attended by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, members of the Navy’s Board of Management, flag-rank officers, officers, sailors and a group of civil staff employees. The spirit of collective public service extended beyond the central ceremony at the Navy Headquarters, with simultaneous programmes carried out in every Naval Command.
